Curious About Meditation? Here are five apps to try!

Have you ever considered trying meditation? Not only is this practice a great form of stress relief, but it could also boost your health and wellbeing levels. Recent research shows that it can have a positive effect on your mind-body health as well as how you cope with stress.

So, where should you start? Well, if you’re not ready to dive in and take a class, there’s a simple way to give it a go at home. All you need is some space, your smartphone, and a little time to unwind. It’s that simple. Here are some of the best free meditation apps and why you should give them a try.

1. Stop, Breathe & Think

Question time: When was the last time you checked in with your emotions? Most of us tend to get on with our daily lives and never once think about how we feel…. That is until we start feeling stressed out, anxious, or upset. Luckily, using the Stop, Breathe & Think app means that things should never get to that stage.

Each day, you use the app to quickly enter how you’re feeling – both physically and mentally. It then offers you a range of meditation tracks suited to your mood. Topics range from compassion to dealing with anxiety and depression. You can choose which one you want to try for yourself from a list of a few options. Oh yes, it’s that simple!

2. Headspace

Completely new to the world of meditation? You’re not alone. Here’s an app that can introduce you to the art in an easy and stress-free way. The Headspace app offers a free trial of meditation activities that you can complete over ten days. Each and every track takes you a little deeper into the practice so you can understand it better.

If you happen to fall head over heels in love with the app, you can even sign up to become a Premium Member. The benefits include a buddy system, which means you can connect with other users to keep on track, a progress page, and a reward system. (Or, of course, you can keep using the trial for free.) Give it a go!
